PIRG
Sends SEC Chairman Harvey Pitt Letter Calling For Resignation
Statement of U.S. PIRG Consumer Program Director Ed Mierzwinski
Following
revelations that SEC Chairman Harvey Pitt withheld material
information from other commissioners about Judge William Webster's
involvement in a serious audit failure, we sent a letter to Pitt
today
urging his resignation. We believe that only Pitt's resignation,
and the
replacement of Judge Webster as chairman of the new accountant
oversight board with the more qualified John Biggs, will restore
investor confidence in the markets.
Download the letter.
